I'm an advocate sweater dresser. I wear sweaters over everything and rarely go out with just one layer of clothing, despite the fact that I live in Tropic Kingdom aka Panama. Sweaters might look unsuitable for warm places but I can't help it, I like the extra dapper touch that a bit of layering adds. Yes, I would love to walk around the city in an absolutely weather-inappropriate fur coat but unfortunately, that hasn't happened (yet) ...so, back to topic: sweater vests.
A tank top is the answer for the layer-loving professional on-the-go. Add a tie and you'll look polished enough for any business meeting. Roll up your sleeves and lose the tie for a more casual look. Play with the color of your vest and your shirt. A little belly? No problem, wear a dark-colored sweater vest with light-colored pants and shirt, it will make you look slimmer (and work out, it will help too) Trust me: you'll enjoy having that piece of clothing in your wardrobe.
Last week I was shopping (yes, I shop around a bit more often that I'd like to admit) and saw that dark brown Givenchy sweater vest. It obviously went home with me... I mixed it up with a light blue Calvin Klein shirt, a vintage Carolina Herrera tie, khaki Givenchy pants and Salvatore Feragamo's Amir loafers in mahogany (a new acquisition too). I felt very comfortable all day long and got to wear that vintage tie I bought centuries ago but never worn because I wasn't sure how to.
